WinRAR waarschuwt alle lezers van Google AdWords

Wij stelden vast dat iemand de naam van WinRAR gebruikt om een geïnfecteerd winrar.exe installerbestand te verspreiden via Google AdWords.

Na de installatie van het gewijzigde WinRAR wordt de malware uitgevoerd: elke minuut wordt een pop-up geopend met 'intervalhehehe' als inhoud.
Als je info over dit probleem opzoekt in Google, vind je een aantal forums die het bestaan van de malware bevestigen.

Het probleem is dat de malware de local host wijzigt zodat die je van populaire homepagina's zoals yahoo.com of google.com afleidt naar een valse 'Microsoft Security Center'-website.
Deze pagina biedt een gratis systeemscan aan en eventueel anti-spywaresoftware (te betalen) voor de verwijdering van de 'intervalhehehe'-malware.

We waarschuwen onze lezers ervoor zich niet te laten misleiden door de frauduleuze GoogleAd en de 'intervalhehehe'-malware.

Om er zeker van te zijn dat je de correcte versie van WinRAR downloadt, bevelen wij iedereen aan alleen pagina's te downlooaden van de officiële website: www.winrar.be.

Alleen als de trouwe gebruikers op de hoogte zijn van de technieken van op winstbejag beluste valse websites, kan dit soort bedrog bestreden en eventueel geëlimineerd worden.

WinRAR warns users of Google AdWords fraud

It has come to our attention that someone is using the WinRAR name to spread a malware infected winrar.exe installer through Google AdWords.

After installing the modified WinRAR, a malware is executed which opens a pop-up every minute with the content "intervalhehehe".
While searching for this problem in Google you will find different forum posts confirming the existence of this malware.

The tricky part is that the malware changes the local host file to direct popular home pages like yahoo.com or google.com to a fake "Microsoft Security Center" website.

This page offers a "free" system scan and eventually an anti-spyware software for sale to clean the "intervalhehehe" malware.

We warn our readers not to be fooled by this fraudulent GoogleAd and the "intervalhehehe" malware.

To ensure you are downloading the correct version of WinRAR we encourage everyone to download only from a official sites as www.winrar.be.

Only if the true users are aware of these money making tactics from bogus website this kind of fraud can be fought and eventually eliminated.
